Nexus Recovery Center Announces Mother’s May Brunch

The Auxiliary of Nexus Recovery Center is hosting its inaugural Mother’s Day Brunch in May.

The brunch will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 21 at the Dallas Country Club. Louise Hallam Collins will chair the event along with Honorary Co-Chairs Harriet and Laura Jeffers. Jade Rose, a former Nexus Recovery Center client, will be the featured speaker at the brunch.

“The Auxiliary of Nexus is thrilled to present our inaugural Mother’s May Brunch,” said Louise Collins, Auxiliary of Nexus member and Mother’s May Brunch Chair. “We hope this event inspires countless members of our community to celebrate the mothers and women in their lives, as well as support Nexus Recovery Center and all the life-changing work the organization does for so many North Texan women on a daily basis.”

Founded in 1971, Nexus Recovery Center is a nonprofit agency that aims to serve as a community of hope and sobriety for women and their families to live healthy, resilient lives. It offers women comprehensive services, such as specialized substance use disorder treatment, therapeutic treatment, and childcare, regardless of a woman’s ability to pay.

Members of the Auxiliary support women and their children who are on their recovery journey with the Nexus Recovery Center through planning and implementing special events to raise money for the center. Since 1996, they have raised funds for multiple programs including an aftercare program to maintain supportive ties with Nexus graduates, a Client Care Fund to allow for extended treatment stays, vans for client transportation, personnel including psychiatric fellows and detox nurses, a research building, and a reception renovation.

“Nexus Recovery Center is incredibly thankful to our powerful and impactful Auxiliary as they continue to advocate for our clients as they pursue their recovery journey,” said Heather Ormand, CEO of Nexus Recovery Center. “An essential part of the recovery journey is feeling supported and championed by those around you. The Auxiliary plays this key role in the support of so many courageous women in our community.”
