Early Barrage Leads Rangers Past Scots

Highland Park saw its four-game winning streak snapped with a 13-5 loss to rival Jesuit on Thursday at Highlander Stadium, in a rematch of last year’s Texas High School Lacrosse League championship game.

The Rangers (11-2) scored eight consecutive goals in the first quarter, including four by Beckett Foley, to take command in their final regular-season game. Jesuit has won five straight overall and hasn’t lost to a team from Texas all season.

It was the first meeting between the two rivals since Jesuit’s 10-8 victory over the Scots in the state championship game a year ago. The Rangers have topped HP in the past three matchups.

Meanwhile, the Scots (9-3) suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season and tied their lowest offensive output of the campaign. They will finish the regular season on Tuesday by hosting rival St. Mark’s.

Both teams are expected to make deep runs in the Class AA bracket of the THSLL playoffs, which start in late April. The state tournament is slated for May 7-8 in Austin.
