American-made Goods Come to HP Village
If you haven’t finished your holiday shopping, swing by the Highland Park Village and check out two new store fronts — Shinola and Filson, retailers specializing in what could be called mildly-expensive, hipster, outdoor chic.
If this time last year you would have asked me if I knew Shinola and Filson, I would have said, “Did they go to Highland Park? Their names sound familiar.” My fiancé is obsessed, so now I have been trained to spot a Shinola watch from blocks away.
When we swung by the Highland Park Village on Saturday, he could barely contain his excitement when we spotted the two new neighbors where the William-Sonoma used to be.
Shinola is based out of Detroit and aims to bring manufacturing jobs back to the struggling city and to promote well-made American products. You’ll find everything from watches and wallets to leather baseballs in store.
Filson branded goods can be found around town at boutiques such as Antéks Curated, but for the true fans having all their goods under one roof is going to be fun.
Since 1897, Filson has been the Original Alaska Outfitter. Headquartered in Seattle, Filson is known for high-quality apparel and accessories perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Don’t want to climb a mountain? The Filson soft-sided cooler looks good on your back porch too.
Shinola is only assembled in the US, from parts made 100% in China
