‘Paris Wife’ Author to Visit HPUMC
It’s time for Authors Live again! If you miss H.W. Brands, boy did you miss out. That’s OK. You have another chance. Paula McLain, best known for her acclaimed novel The Paris Wife, will be visiting Highland Park United Methodist Church as part of this series.
She will discuss her new book, Circling the Sun, which chronicles Beryl Markham, the first female aviator to fly trans-Atlantic. Apparently, she had a childhood in Kenya, a failed marriage, and a love affair that was portrayed in Out of Africa (don’t hate me — I was still four years from gracing the Earth with my presence when that movie came out).
The [completely free] fun starts August 12 at 7 p.m. per usual. You can buy a book and have it signed after if you like.
(Editor’s note: I was the youngest person in the audience by probably 30 years at Brands’ appearance. I’m thinking this one will have a little bit different demographic.)
