How Many HPHS Kids Play Rock Music?

When I joined Park Cities People in 2008, a rock band called Stanhope was a big deal — maybe a bigger deal than it should have been. When the group of Highland Park High School musicians landed a gig at the State Fair, we made that news our lead front-page story, much to my then-publisher’s chagrin.

I haven’t heard much news on the rock front since Stanhope’s members graduated. But I do know that HPHS student Erin Renfro plays bass for The Neverending. Her band is scheduled to perform Saturday night at the Curtain Club. Are any other Scots rocking out these days?

The HPHS orchestra sponsors a Battle of the Bands in the spring. Some bands form just for the Battle, but several each year seem to be already performing around the area.

There are/were a couple Scots in the band Nelo. Also think a couple brothers from HP are in the band The Strange Boys that had a song on Entourage and on some Dell commercial.
