34 Third-Row Seats Stolen in Two Weekends

In last week’s Park Cities People, I wrote a story about the massive number of third-row seats being stolen from large size SUVs. I joked that after a weekend where 17 seats were stolen from University Park, surely there wouldn’t be any seats left to steal. Boy, was I wrong.

Over the past weekend, there were 17 more seats stolen in UP by my count. I’m still trying to crunch the boundaries on the past thefts, but many of last week’s were concentrated to houses off of Preston Road.

However, I’m posting this blog because I want to hear from you — those who can no longer seat as many people as they used to.

If you are a victim, or know one, please email me at [email protected].

Please read this if you are one of the few lucky SUV owners who still have their seats.

How many of these were stolen from cars parked in garages? People leave a $50,000 car outside so they can put $1,000 worth of stuff in the garage.

    @ Really

    That’s an excellent point.

It’s amazing to drive down a street past an open garage door and see all the CRAP that people have crammed in there! Honestly, how much of that stuff do you really need?

And I don’t think that people in +3,000sf houses can say “Oh, we just don’t have enough room inside”.

    YOU HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF!!!!

Here’s the dilemma; when replacing your 3rd row, do you buy a “used” (read: stolen) seat or a new one from the dealer?

@Edward : just wondering, how many young kids do you have?

Thr problem is that many Park Cities residents don’t have garages at all. That is a luxury many of us wish for around here!
