Rumor has it that there will be no pep rallies before football games at HPHS next fall because the gym in which these rallies of pep take place will be under renovation.
Does anyone out there have any more information on this?
Just happened to read about this subject today. According to HPHS student body president Sam Leonard in the February 24 edition of The Bagpipe (student newspaper)… “For those of you that will be here next year…I have some stellar information. This summer the Pep-Rally gym is being completely remodeled. Plans for the reconstruction include a new floor, ceiling, sound-system and refinishing the seats. Just in case you were wondering all this money is coming from our fabulous bond package.”
This seems very unlikely to me because that is the main competition gym and that’s where the JV and Varsity volleyball games are played. It would make more sense for them to renovate during the summer, assuming they would be able to do so.
I wouldn’t put it past Patrick Cates for purposely renovating the gym during football season. He got made fun of in a pep rally 4 or so years ago and I don’t think he has fully recovered from that.
If true that is total Bush League. They were renovating some part of the gym during my time there and we just had the pep ralley in another gym. They can find another space, the only reason they wouldn’t have them is if it was an administration issue.
I believe it’s mom’s whose kids are participating in the pep rally. Football, Belle, cheerleader, scotsmen, band, etc. To see them “perform” sometimes, bring props or materials if their activity is being highlighted. And to add to the “pep”, of course.
There is a meeting today at the HPMS 5/6 room @ 5 to discuss this. It greatly affects the HPHS girls volleyball team (they will have to practice and play in the middle school gym). The gym renovations will probably not be completed until late fall. While not castastrophic-it appears that construction could start earlier. Cates is delaying the renovation so that AP testing can be done in the gym. Seems like there should be a better solution.
See, they should have thrown the glowsticks. They got the penalty anyway…

that’s the final straw – They will go 0-10 without all that pep.

That would suck. I’m just going to say it.

What are the moms going to do who show up to relive their high school years?
It’s the boys’ gym, right? As in, where the hoops teams play? Why are we referring to it as the “pep rally gym”?
Do moms attend the pep rallies? If so, why?
