HPISD Gets Belated “A” Overall Rating on 2023 Report Card
The Texas Education Agency has finally released its 2023 letter grades for Texas school districts, and Highland Park ISD has received top marks.
The district received an A overall rating and an overall score of 95 out of 100. The overall rating measures how much students are learning, and how well schools prepare students for the next grade and success after graduation.
All individual HPISD schools also received A overall ratings. Individual overall school ratings were:
- Highland Park High School: 95 out of 100
- Highland Park Middle School: 94 out of 100
- McCulloch Intermediate School: 94 out of 100
- Armstrong Elementary School: 94 out of 100
- Boone Elementary School: 96 out of 100
- Bradfield Elementary School: 94 out of 100
- Hyer Elementary School: 95 out of 100
- University Park Elementary School: 95 out of 100
The 2023 letter grades are based on performance in the 2022-23 school year. They were not previously available because of a lawsuit-related delay, according to the Texas Education Agency. Legal challenges continue to delay the release of 2024 letter grades.
Although Highland Park ISD performed well, Dallas ISD fell from a B to a C, and Texas schools’ overall performance declined, according to an article in the Dallas Morning News.
