Skulduggery of the week: Grounds for Eviction
At 4:13 p.m. on July 30, the owner of an office in the 5500 block of Preston Road reported the theft of a Jura coffee machine sometime on July 8-9. A tenant moved out on those days after being evicted.
HIGHLAND PARK
27 MONDAY
Between 5 p.m. on July 26 and 10:30 a.m. on July 27, a thief entered an unlocked red 2014 Lincoln Navigator in the 3300 block of St. Johns Drive and stole a Louis Vuitton purse containing a house key and four pairs of women’s sunglasses.
At 10:57 a.m., a resident of the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue reported the theft of an old police scanner and a pair of sunglasses from an unlocked black 2008 GMC Acadia on July 25-26. The perpetrator also stole four checks from a checkbook and tried unsuccessfully to cash one for $1,023 before the Acadia owner closed the account.
Between 3 and 4 p.m., a thief stole a $190 Echo handheld blower from a yard in the 3300 block of Dartmouth Avenue.
29 WEDNESDAY
Between 9 p.m. on July 28 and 9 a.m. on July 29, a thief stole both side-view mirrors from a black 2012 GMC Yukon in the 4500 block of Fairway Avenue.
31 FRIDAY
Between 8:30 p.m. on July 30 and 8:30 a.m. on July 31, a thief stole a 2009 Honda motorized scooter from an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Knox Street.
1 SATURDAY
At 2 a.m., Parker Stewart Turner, 20, of University Park was arrested in the 3900 block of Lexington Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
Between 7:30 p.m. on July 31 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 1, a thief entered an unlocked white 2014 Mercedes sedan in the 4300 block of Arcady Avenue and stole two imitation Hermes leather purses with a combined value of $600. During the same time frame, a crook entered an unlocked black 2011 Lexus sedan in the 4500 block of Arcady and stole a $375 Coach purse and a $100 pair of Tom Ford sunglasses. And another miscreant took a coin purse containing $6 in change from a black 2013 Audi A7, also in the 4500 block of Arcady.
Between 8:30 p.m. on July 31 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 1, a thief entered an unlocked silver 2013 BMW sedan in the 4500 block of Lorraine Avenue and stole three pairs of sunglasses with a combined value of $575, a $200 iPhone, and two folding knives with a combined value of $175.
Between 11 p.m. on July 31 and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, a thief stole two Sharp flat-screen televisions, with a combined value of $1,000, and a $200 wireless Bluetooth speaker from a patio in the 4500 block of Arcady Avenue.
2 SUNDAY
Between noon and 12:30 p.m., a pickpocket stole a $250 Bottega Veneta leather wallet containing $40 in cash from a shopper’s purse at Whole Foods Market in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

27 MONDAY
At 11:09 a.m., an argument between two transients at The Plaza at Preston Center led to one of them stabbing the other in the stomach. Michael Preston Copeland, 58, of Mesquite was arrested on a charge of injury with a knife.
28 TUESDAY
At 2:59 p.m., Kendrick Oneil Fluellen, 23, of Cedar Hill, was arrested in the 3300 block of Lovers Lane on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
30 THURSDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on July 29 and 6:30 a.m. on July 30, a burglar broke into a gray 2012 Jeep Cherokee in an attached garage in the 2900 block of Fondren Drive and stole $140 in cash and two purses with a combined value of $125.
31 FRIDAY
Between 6:16 p.m. on July 30 and 2:28 p.m. on July 31, a thief stole more than $7,600 worth of tools and home furnishings from a residential construction site in the 4300 block of Druid Lane. The stolen items included $3,000 worth of rebar, $2,207 worth of lighting, and a $565 door.
