Police Report: July 14 to July 20


SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Don’t Call for An Appointment

At 11:25 a.m. on July 16, a thief stole a $400 Samsung Galaxy phone from a desk at a salon in the Shops of Highland Park. The perpetrator at first was trying to sell gift cards, then asked to use the restroom after being told he couldn’t solicit inside the salon. After he left the store, an employee noticed her phone was missing. When the employee later texted the stolen phone from another device, the thief became confrontational.


HIGHLAND PARK

14 MONDAY
At 8:30 a.m., a resident of the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drivereported damage to the lock on the front door of an apartment on the night of July 11, with repairs costing $281. The resident changed the locks on the unit since the front door of the complex was broken around the same time.

18 FRIDAY
At 5:50 a.m., an officer found a Kimber Tactical Pro 45-caliber pistol in the middle of the street near the intersection of Lomo Alto Drive and Versailles Avenue. The firearm was loaded and secured, and an investigation found no evidence it had been involved in any criminal activity.

Between 1 and 2 p.m., a thief entered an unlocked garage in the3300 block of Mockingbird Lane and stole a Trek girls bicycle and a Honda generator. The larcenist left behind a black jacket and a pair of pruning shears.

19 SATURDAY
At 2:24 a.m., Luis Miguel Mendoza, 29, of Dallas was arrested in the 4300 block of Mockingbird Lane on a public intoxication charge.


UNIVERSITY PARK

14 MONDAY
Between 2 and 2:10 p.m., a thief entered an unlocked gray 2012 Infiniti QX56 at University Park United Methodist Church and stole a $200 Michael Kors wallet from a purse containing $500 worth of checks and $80 in cash.

16 WEDNESDAY
Between 6 p.m. on July 15 and 8 a.m. on July 16, a thief stole an 18-foot Z Kear flatbed trailer, valued at $3,500, from a construction site in the 3700 block of Marquette Street.

At 6 p.m., Tracy Lane Rabey, 48, of Dallas was arrested in the8400 block of Thackery Street on a public intoxication charge.

19 SATURDAY
Between 3:15 and 5:45 p.m., a thief entered a house in the 3000 block of Rosedale Avenue through an unlocked patio door and stole $2,850 worth of jewelry, a $2,500 Sony laptop computer, and a $50 wooden box.

20 SUNDAY
At 3 a.m., John Gramentine, 22, of University Park was arrested in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane on a public intoxication charge.


DALLAS

Due to a records system change in the records at the Dallas Police Department, Dallas reports are unavailable this week. We are working with DPD to obtain relevant incident reports and hope to resume providing them soon.
