Tincy and Tiffany and Co.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of covering an array of debutante events that include the fun and familiar (Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, I made my debut in 2010) and the new and exciting (La Fiesta). While chatting with Tincy Miller, one of the co-founders of DSOL, she told me the greatest historical anecdote about the presentation ball, which I wasn’t able to squeeze into my column. So instead, here it is for your reading enjoyment.

“In 1989, when the Meyerson was built, I was president then of the League. Tiffany and Co. had moved to Dallas, and they underwrote our ball. The people from New York came for it and we were in the beautiful Meyerson auditorium, and they said: ‘Don’t ever go back to [presenting at the Fairmont] hotel. You have found your home. You have the skyline of Dallas, and this is where the money benefits.’ ”

I think you should reread your quote… it makes no sense.
