Cordero, Panthers Hold Off WTW in 11-5A
Hillcrest remains in contention for a District 11-5A baseball title after slipping past rival W.T. White 2-1 on Saturday.
The Longhorns rallied from a 1-0 deficit to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning before the Panthers (15-9, 9-1) bounced back the game-winning run in the bottom half of the frame.
Cesar Cordero and Sebastian Palma recorded two hits apiece for Hillcrest. Cordero also was the winning pitcher as the Panthers completed a season sweep of WTW.
Hillcrest remains in second place in the 11-5A standings heading into a matchup with Adamson on Tuesday. The Longhorns (12-13, 8-4) also remain solidly in postseason contention, and will host Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday.
