Assistant Coach Farris Earns THSCA Honor
Roxanne Farris of Highland Park was named a Class 6A regional assistant coach of the year for cross country by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Farris, who is in her eighth season as an assistant to HP head coach Susan Bailey in both cross country and track and field, previously was a head coach at Coppell and North Garland.
Two Lady Scots runners — Charlotte Hudson and Maddie Heckler — reached the 6A state meet in the fall, continuing a streak of 48 consecutive years in which HP has had at least one state qualifier.
The spring track season will begin for the Lady Scots on Feb. 3 with a tri-meet against Waxahachie and Woodrow Wilson at Germany Park.
