McCrea, Rangers Claim Meintser Title

Jesuit Dallas needed some drama to secure its first championship since 2016 in the annual Jesuit-Meintser Soccer Invitational.

The Rangers rallied with two second-half goals — both by James McCrea — to tie Skyline at 2-2, then won the championship game in penalty kicks on Saturday.

Jesuit scored 2-0 victories in both of its first two tournament games, against Fort Worth Nolan on Thursday and McKinney on Friday. Caleb Fisher scored in each of those games for the Rangers (2-0-1). The three-day, season-opening event also included teams from Bishop Lynch, Plano, Rowlett, and Trinity Christian.

Next up, Jesuit hopes to carry its momentum into the District 7-6A opener on Tuesday at Richardson Pearce.
