SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Don’t Hide in a Yellow Porsche
At 11:30 a.m., a thief entered an unlocked silver 2006 Chevrolet coupe in the 5300 block of Rock Cliff Place and stole a $50 bag and a $10 wallet. A witness to the larceny followed the perpetrator, who threw some items out of the bag while fleeing on foot. The thief wound up at a house in the 8900 block of Inwood Road, where the miscreant walked in through an unlocked door and stole a $100 wallet containing $120 in cash off the kitchen counter, along with the keys to a yellow 2013 Porsche. The thief fled in the Porsche but was later spotted by a plain-clothes officer in the 1500 block of Empire Central. Keithan Jay Brown, 24, was arrested on charges of burglary of a vehicle and burglary of a habitation.
27 TUESDAY: Between 6 p.m. on May 26 and 8 a.m. on May 27, a thief stole a $100 car battery from an unlocked silver 2010 Nissan sedan at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of West Lovers Lane.
At 10:20 a.m., officers recovered a $20,000 whiskey mink coat from a fur dealer at Preston Oaks Shopping Center that had been reported stolen in Colorado.
At 1:15 p.m., a shoplifter stole four pairs of Nike shorts, valued at $148, from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. Yelarrious Thomas Crow, 18, was arrested on a theft charge.
At 1:30 p.m., a shoplifter stole $207 worth of children’s clothing from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. Destinee Dyshay Williams, 23, was arrested on a theft charge.
At 4:24 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $545 pair of jeans from Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center. Chase Wayne White, 22, was arrested on charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine.
Between 5 and 9:30 p.m., a thief broke into a white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, valued at $5,000, at NorthPark Center and stole it.
29 THURSDAY: Between midnight and 6 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2008 GMC SUV in the 6100 block of Bandera Avenueand stole a $2,000 set of Ping golf clubs with bag.
Between 10:40 and 11:03 a.m., a thief stole $500 in cash from someone in the process of moving into a house in the 5100 block of Brookview Drive.
Between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., an employee embezzled $9,263 in cash from a restaurant at Preston Forest Square.
30 FRIDAY: At 1:30 p.m., a shoplifter stole two women’s shirts valued at $436, two dresses valued at $338, and a $38 scarf from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. Mini Varughese, 48, was arrested on a theft charge.
Between 7 and 9 p.m., a burglar broke into a black 2008 Chevrolet pickup in the 5100 block of West Lovers Lane and stole a $1,200 Dell laptop computer, a $90 Ogio backpack, and an $80 battery charger.
31 SATURDAY: At 10:10 a.m., a thief stole a $200 Tory Burch wallet containing $500 in cash, $200 worth of gift cards, and a $100 Mercedes car key from a shopping cart at Preston Center.
At 2 p.m., a vandal caused $800 in damage by putting screws in two tires of a white 2014 Porsche at an apartment complex in the6200 block of West Northwest Highway.
