Rangers Sweep Hebron, Reach Third Round

The last time Jesuit Dallas went three rounds deep in the baseball playoffs, the Rangers surged all the way to the Class 6A state title in 2016.

Seven years later, Jesuit hopes for a repeat of that remarkable postseason run following a sweep of Hebron in the Region I area round on Friday.

The Rangers (24-11-4) topped the state-ranked Hawks 7-1 in the second game of a best-of-three series after securing a 5-1 win on Thursday in the opener.

Stellar pitching was the key for Jesuit, with lefthander Luke Isett (10-0) pitching a complete game in Game 1 and Dillon Brandt firing six strong innings in Game 2. Taylor Fults and Taylor Haddock homered to lead the offensive attack.

Jesuit advances to meet Denton Guyer (29-10) in the regional quarterfinals. The best-of-three series will start Thursday in Denton, followed by Game 2 on Friday at Wright Field. A third and deciding game, if necessary, is slated for Saturday in Little Elm.

In Class 5A Region II, Hillcrest and W.T. White were both eliminated after being swept by Frisco ISD schools on Friday. The Panthers (26-8) fell to Frisco Wakeland while the Longhorns (21-13) were blanked by Frisco Liberty.
