SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: BAG BURGLARY

How easy was it for a burglar to get into a home in the 4200 block of Bryn Mawr Drive before 7 a.m. Aug. 18 and take a $1,800 Celine tote bag, an $800 wallet, and $400 in cash? The burglar got in through an unlocked door.

HIGHLAND PARK

14 Sunday

Reported at 10:59 a.m.: a stealer got into a Ford F150 parked in the 4500 block of Livingston Avenue and took a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with prescription lenses.

Reported at 2:57 p.m.: a careless driver hit a Dodge caravan parked in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue, leaving a dent in the rear hatch and a broken passenger side taillight.

15 Monday

Arrested at 2:42 a.m.: a 35-year-old man for a warrant in the 5300 block of Armstrong Parkway.

Reported at 3:05 p.m.: a sneaky shoplifter made off with a pair of dresses from The Conservatory in Highland Park Village by hiding them in a shopping bag and leaving the store with them.

18 Thursday

A scammer opened a TXU account using the information of a relative of a woman from the 4600 block of N. Versailles Avenue.

A motorist driving an Acura in the 3400 block of Mockingbird Lane hit a tree after an Audi Q3 crashed into the Acura at 11 p.m.

20 Saturday

Intruders got into a home in the 4200 block of Livingston Avenue before 6:30 p.m. and made off with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and a Fossil wristwatch by claiming to be workers there to trim trees or work on plumbing issues.

Arrested at 9:51 p.m.: a 47-year-old man accused of a parole violation in the 4000 block of Mockingbird Lane.

21 Sunday

A reckless driver drove over a pole marking a parking spot in Highland Park Village at 6:15 p.m.

16 Tuesday

Arrested at 12:01 a.m.: a 27-year-old man for a warrant. No location was given.

17 Wednesday

A robber took an iPhone 13, bank cards, a $39,400 Rolex, and more at gunpoint from a couple outside a home in the 3400 block of Potomac Avenue before midnight.

Reported at 10:10 a.m.: a fraudster tried to cash a forged check for $825 at a bank in the 3800 block of University Boulevard.

18 Thursday

A pilferer picked a $10,000 Panerai Luminor daylight chronograph watch from a home in the 6600 block of Hunters Glen Road before 11:44 a.m.

Reported at 11:57 a.m.: a thief found easy pickings of $70, a wallet, a ring set, a separate topaz ring, and cards from a home in the 4400 block of Hanover Street after getting in the house via an unlocked door.

A ne’er do well took a bank card, HSA card, and various documents from an unlocked Range Rover parked in the 4000 block of Villanova Drive at 5:32 p.m.

20 Saturday

Arrested at 9:30 a.m.: a 33-year-old man for a warrant in the 3300 block of Rosedale Avenue.

21 Sunday

A sneaky stealer took a Kate Spade bag, water bottle, and Bible from a Ford F150 and Hyundai Tucson parked outside Cafe Brazil in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway.

Arrested at 10:18 p.m.: a 42-year-old man accused of violating a protective order in the 4100 block of University Boulevard.
