Scheffler Eyes FedEx Cup Playoff Title
As the top-ranked player in the world for much of the season, Scottie Scheffler will be the favorite to claim his first title in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs.
The former Highland Park standout has four wins this season — including his first major title at The Masters — more than any player on the Tour. He is tied for second in top-10 finishes with nine, behind only defending FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay.
Scheffler, 26, already has claimed a $4 million bonus as part of the Tour Top 10, which rewards the top players in the standings at the end of the regular season.
The postseason swing starts this weekend at the St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee. That will be followed by the BMW Championship in Wilmington, Delaware, and the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.
The 125-player field is trimmed to 70 after the first week, and then 30 for the final event, which includes a potential weighted advantage for Scheffler and other top performers seeking a payout of $18 million.
