SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: WILD RIDE
A jerk driving a silver Chevrolet sedan turned off Armstrong Parkway to go west on Mockingbird Lane, hitting a Chevrolet work van around 11:15 a.m. June 20. Then, at one point after the crash when the driver of a truck carrying a trailer that was hit went to take a photo of the license plate of the sedan, the jerk slapped the phone from the truck driver’s hands twice.
HIGHLAND PARK
20 Monday
Arrested at midnight: a 30-year-old man for driving without insurance in the 3700 block of Mockingbird Lane.
Arrested at 3:30 a.m.: a 41-year-old man for warrants accused of evading arrest in the 3300 block of Harvard Avenue.
A good neighbor found a Trek bicycle propped on the east side of a home in the 3200 block of Princeton Avenue and turned it in to authorities around 6:30 p.m.
22 Wednesday
Arrested at 2:25 a.m.: a 33-year-old man accused of public intoxication in the 3700 block of Beverly Drive.
Arrested at 2:58 a.m.: a 60-year-old accused of public intoxication in the 3700 block of Beverly Drive.
Arrested at 10:50 a.m.: a 39-year-old accused of possession of a controlled substance in the 4300 block of Armstrong Parkway.
The driver of an 18-wheeler hit a low-hanging tree in the 4800 block of Highland Drive, falling a large branch, at 11:18 a.m.

Arrested at 1:47 p.m.: a 31-year-old for a warrant in the 5400 block of Lomo Alto Drive.
25 Saturday
A careless driver jumped a curb in the 3100 block of Mockingbird Lane, damaging sod at 12:15 a.m.
Reported at 10:33 a.m.: A thief found easy pickings of a bag containing an iPhone, passport, and several credit cards left at the Bank of America in the 5500 block of Preston Road. The owner was able to track the bag via the phone to a bathroom in the bank, but found his driver’s license, passport, and several credit cards missing.

20 Monday
A burglar got into a Chevrolet in the 4400 block of Lovers Lane around 7:15 a.m.
A crook burglarized a Lexus LX570 in the 4400 block of Amherst Street at 9:34 a.m.
23 Thursday
Reported at 9:51 a.m.: a scammer tried to defraud a woman from the 4000 block of Normandy Avenue.
How easy was it for a ne’er do well to grab a $12,000 shotgun from inside a Range Rover parked in the 3400 block of Normandy Avenue? The Range Rover was unlocked.
A thief took a $3,500 Goyard piece containing $200 from a Mercedes 350 parked in the parking lot of the D.L. Mack’s restaurant in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Avenue before 6:45 p.m.
24 Friday
A jerk took a Burberry backpack and billfold, as well as debit cards, a driver’s license, and $2,000 from a BMW parked in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane.
An opportunistic burglar took an HP Bang & Olufsen laptop, a $40 pair of Nikes, a $1,000 Cartier piece, and more from an unlocked Range Rover in the 4000 block of Wentwood Drive before 1:30 p.m.
Another wrongdoer found easy pickings of an iPad Pro and a Dell laptop from an unlocked Tesla in the Plaza at Preston Center before 2:15 p.m.
Reported at 3:02 p.m.: a pilferer picked a pricey catalytic converter from a Toyota Tacoma in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane.

Arrested at 4:41 a.m.: a 24-year-old man accused of public intoxication in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Avenue.
