Westlake Stuns HP in Lacrosse Playoffs
Highland Park’s lacrosse season concluded with an upset loss to Austin Westlake in the opening round of the Texas High School Lacrosse League playoffs.
The 9-7 defeat on Saturday at Highlander Stadium denied the Scots (10-4) a spot in the state tournament next weekend. They were the runner-up in the Class AA division a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Chaparrals (13-1) won at HP for the first time in program history. They were the only lower seed in the eight-team bracket to emerge victorious on Saturday.
The Scots did have several players who received THSLL all-state recognition last week, including Jackson Holmes, Sam Wheeler, Hayden Helgemoe, and Mason Gallas.
