Scots Carry Momentum Into Playoff Opener

Back-to-back shutouts not only clinched a spot in the Class 5A baseball playoffs for Highland Park, but the Scots earned a No. 3 seed in the process.

They blanked Royse City 1-0 on April 26 to secure a postseason berth, then climbed into third place in the District 13-5A standings with a 7-0 road win the regular-season finale three days later.

The Scots (19-9) will meet Cleburne in the Region II bi-district round. The best-of-three series will open on Thursday at Scotland Yard, with Game 2 shifting to Cleburne on Friday. If necessary, a third game would be played on Saturday at a time and site to be determined.

The Yellow Jackets (24-6) finished second in District 14-5A and have won 13 of their last 15 games. Meanwhile, HP has not lost a first-round playoff series since 2013.
