SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: UNLOCKED AND UNLUCKY

How easy was it for another thief to get into a Mercedes GLC in the Miracle Mile shopping area in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane and grab a Louis Vuitton bag, a MacBook Air, a credit card, and more from inside before 4:30 p.m. April 6? The Mercedes was unlocked.

HIGHLAND PARK

4 Monday

Arrested at 11:39 a.m.: a 65-year-old man for parole violation in the 4600 block of Westside Drive.

Arrested at 11:43 a.m.: a 49-year-old woman for warrants in the 4500 block of Westside Drive.

5 Tuesday

Police found a Mazda Protege parked in the 4100 block of St. Johns Drive at 4:03 a.m. that’d been reported stolen.

6 Wednesday

Arrested at 2:50 a.m.: a 23-year-old man accused of possession of a controlled substance in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue.

Arrested at 10:56 a.m.: a 21 year old accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid license, burglary of a vehicle, failure to leave information after hitting an unattended vehicle, and evading arrest in the 3400 block of Potomac Avenue.

Arrested at 10:57 a.m.: a 31 year old accused of burglary of a vehicle, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, and a warrant in the 3400 block of Potomac Avenue.

Reported at 9:44 p.m.: A pilferer picked a pricey catalytic converter from a Lexus RX400H parked in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue before 9:30 p.m.

7 Thursday

A careless driver rear ended a Nissan Altima in the 4300 block of Mockingbird Lane and drove off westbound without exchanging information at 1:39 p.m.

Arrested at 7:30 p.m.: a 26-year-old woman accused of assault in the 3500 block of Normandy Avenue.

9 Saturday

Arrested at 1:50 a.m.: a 32 year old accused of driving without insurance and for warrants in the 5400 block of Fairfield Avenue.

A good neighbor turned a key fob for a Dodge Ram found near the intersection of Beverly Drive and Douglas Avenue before 11:15 a.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK

4 Monday

How easy was it for a ne’er do well to grab a wallet from a Mercedes in the 6400 block of Lomo Alto Drive before 11:45 a.m.? The Mercedes was unlocked.

Reported at 1:47 p.m.: An intruder burglarized a Ford F250 in the 4300 block of Shenandoah Avenue

A burglar swiped a $2,900 bicycle from outside a business in the 3400 block of McFarlin Avenue before 4:18 p.m.

5 Tuesday

A rogue broke into a Ford Raptor in the 4300 block of Bryn Mawr Drive and grabbed a bag containing baseball equipment, another containing football equipment, a backpack, and a wallet before 7:40 a.m.

6 Wednesday

Reported at 5:18 p.m.: A crook got into an unlocked Range Rover in the Miracle Mile shopping center in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane and grabbed a Fendi purse from inside. 

A jerk broke the glass of the driver’s side rear window of a Toyota Corolla parked in the 6200 block of Hillcrest Avenue before 10 p.m.

8 Friday

Arrested at 7:57 p.m.: a 31-year-old man accused of shoplifting from the 3900 block of Northwest Highway.

9 Saturday

An unwelcome guest grabbed firearms from a home in the 3600 block of Binkley Avenue at 4:22 p.m.

A jerk took a Trek bicycle from outside Highland Park High School in the 4200 block of Emerson Avenue at 5:03 p.m.

Don’t leave your bike: another thief swiped a Trek bicycle from outside McCulloch Intermediate/Highland Park Middle School in the 3500 block of Granada Avenue before 12:30 p.m.
