Scots Fall to Pirates in 13-5A Showdown
Highland Park tumbled out of a tie for first place in the District 13-5A baseball standings with a 4-1 road loss to Crandall on Friday.
Luke Vendig homered for the Scots (14-6, 6-2). Meanwhile, the Pirates (13-7, 7-1) turned just two hits in the game into four runs.
Three days earlier, HP blanked Crandall 4-0 to earn its fifth shutout of the season, thanks to stellar pitching from Ben Bailey. The Scots have allowed more than four runs just once in their last 17 games.
Next up, HP will host Burleson in a nondistrict clash on Friday before resuming league play on Tuesday at North Forney.
