New Chili’s Concept Coming Near SMU

A new delivery/to-go Chili’s concept is coming soon near SMU.

A Chili’s spokesperson said work will begin in the next few weeks and the new location at 3036 Mockingbird Lane (where Starbucks used to be) is expected to open in October. The new concept will have minimal seating inside and serve the regular menu of baby back ribs, steaks, burgers, other sandwiches, and more, as well as that of at least one of their virtual brand, It’s Just Wings.

“The options we’re looking at right now are by college campuses, one here in Dallas and one in Columbus, are going to be in-line, a little bit larger, kind of more in that 1,500 to 1,800 square foot that we would lease and manage,” Brinker International EVP and CFO Joe Taylor said. “So they all are kind of off-premise centric in their approach. it’s just opening up a fairly large addressable market by thinking a little bit differently and leaning into really – that’s one of the COVID takeaways is that off-premise is a bigger component of what we will do going forward. So we want to make sure we’re taking full advantage of that consumer shift.”

The new location was discussed during a Feb. 2 Brinker International earnings call.
