Ursuline Academy Announces Death of Sister
Sister Margaret Ann Moser, president emerita of Ursuline Academy, has died after a brief stay in hospice, school officials announced on Thursday. Funeral arrangements are pending.
“Personally, words cannot express this loss that I know many of us are feeling,” school president Gretchen Kane said. “Sister Margaret Ann was a most affirming friend, a fierce competitor, and a competent and compassionate leader. She dedicated her life to Ursuline education and the students and families she served.”
Kane described Moser as “a most gracious woman who showered all who knew her with, kindness, love, humor.”
Moser, an Ursuline Academy of Dallas alumna, began her education career with teaching and administrative positions at Ursuline schools in Springfield, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; and New Orleans, Louisiana.
After 31 years in those and other ministries, she returned to Ursuline Academy of Dallas, where she served as president from 1989 to 2012.
Moser received the Catholic Foundation Award in 2012 in recognition of her commitment to Catholic education and the Dallas community.
“She was a most genuine advocate of Ursuline education and a true model of Serviam,” Kane said.
Her work also included service on the boards of Ursuline Academy of New Orleans, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston, St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas, The Catholic Housing Initiative, and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity.
