Hockaday’s National Merit Finalists
The 11 seniors at The Hockaday School, who had been named semifinalists in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program, have been chosen as this year’s finalists.
These ladies were chosen from more than 1.5 million juniors in an estimated 22,000 high schools by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. There were more than 16,000 semifinalists competing for about 7,400 National Merit Scholarship awards, worth approximately $32 million.
The National Merit Scholarship Program began in 1955 and is a national academic competition for scholarship and recognition.
