Lady Scots Meet Skyline in Playoff Opener
A year ago, Highland Park proved it belonged with the top Class 6A programs in the area. Now, the Lady Scots are looking to take the next step in the postseason.
HP will meet Skyline in a Region II bi-district game at 7 p.m. Monday at Conrad High School. The Lady Scots (16-11) finished third in District 10-6A during the regular season, while the Lady Raiders (19-13) were the runner-up in 9-6A.
HP had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 70-59 loss to district co-champion Richardson on Tuesday in its regular-season finale. However, the Lady Scots topped Richardson Berkner 69-38 on Feb. 5, as Morgan Smith led a balanced attack with 13 points.
Skyline won its last two games against Carrollton R.L. Turner and Sunset by an average margin of 55 points. Jaylan Gulley and Jamesia Amand pace the Lady Raiders in scoring this season.
The winner of Monday’s game likely will meet Killeen in the area round later next week.
