Skulduggery of the week: Grocery Getaway
At 2 p.m., a shoplifter rolled a cart full of groceries out of Whole Foods in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive. An off-duty security officer detained the miscreant, who admitted to not paying for the groceries, the value of which totaled $585.92.
HIGHLAND PARK
7 THURSDAY
Between 9 a.m. on Jan. 6 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 7, a thief entered an apartment in the 4700 block of Bowser Court and stole an iPad, a Macbook Pro, two vacuum cleaners, a car seat, and several 2-liter bottles of soda. The residents hired movers a few days before the theft.
Between Dec. 22 and Jan. 7, a thief stole packages containing jewelry and clothing from a porch in the 3100 block of St. Johns Drive. On Dec. 22, the homeowner hosted a holiday open house.
8 FRIDAY
Between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., a thief stole a $10,000 women’s Cartier Tank watch from a house in the 4200 block of Potomac Avenue. A cleaning lady was in the house at the time.
Between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., a thief stole a $1,200 Lenovo laptop and $250 Tory Burch bag from an orange 2014 Jeep Wrangler at the Shops of Highland Park.
9 SATURDAY
At 10:20 p.m., Phillip Ray Stinson, 31, of Dallas was arrested in the 4200 block of Armstrong Parkway on charges of possession of marijuana, violation of the open container law, and driving without a valid license.

4 MONDAY
At 3:23 a.m., the driver of a black Chevrolet truck backed into the sliding double-glass doors of CVS at Park Cities Plaza, causing $5,000 in damage.
At 3:45 p.m., a thief entered a home through an unlocked back door in the 3800 block of Villanova Drive and stole $30 in cash.
5 TUESDAY
Between 8:15 and 8:35 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2009 Lexus Gx470 at Germany Park and stole a $500 Tory Burch purse and a $400 iPhone.
Between 5 and 10:14 p.m., a thief stole a $300 Schwinn Unk girls bicycle in the 6600 block of Airline Road.
6 WEDNESDAY
Between 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 6, a vandal damaged a wooden gate in the 3400 block of Rosedale Avenue, causing $1,000 in damage.
7 THURSDAY
Between 5:15 and 5:29 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2007 Chevrolet SUV in the 3900 block of Stanford Avenue and stole the third-row seat.
Between 11 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 7:40 a.m. on Jan. 7, a vandal broke the front window of a gray 2014 Tesla Model S in the 3900 block of Centenary Drive, causing $500 in damage. It is unclear if anything was stolen from the vehicle.
Between 10 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 4:26 on Jan. 7, a miscreant keyed a blue 2008 Volkswagen in the 3400 block of Granada Avenue, causing $500 in damage.
8 FRIDAY
Between midnight and 12:30 a.m., a lawbreaker broke into Turley Properties in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway and caused $800 in damage, but didn’t steal anything.
At 4:03 p.m., a resident of the 4300 block of Potomac Avenue reported the theft of packages from a porch between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 15. The packages contained $2,070 in paintings, and $240 in other property.
9 SATURDAY
Between 10 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 9, a burglar broke into Digg’s Taco Shop in the 6300 block of Hillcrest Avenue and stole a safe containing $1,331.73.
10 SUNDAY
At 11:17 p.m., a burglar broke into a silver 2011 GMC Yukon in the 3100 block of Stanford Avenue and stole $5 in cash.
