Eggers to Headline HP Lit Fest
The Highland Park Literary Festival will celebrate its 20th year in February, and it will celebrate with a major guest — bestselling author Dave Eggers will be the keynote speaker.
Eggers will speak at the Highland Park High School auditorium on Feb. 25, and his program will be free and open to the public. He’s the author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, which was a Pulitzer Prize nonfiction finalist in 2001, in addition to his work as a teacher, publisher, and philanthropist.
Eggers’ appearance will be the cornerstone of the two-day festival, which includes various opportunities for HPHS students to interact with Eggers and other novelists, journalists, poets, storytellers, playwrights, screenwriters, and songwriters. The event includes an open-mic night and a student writing contest.
