HP Foundation Endows English Chair
For the first time, the Highland Park Education Foundation has endowed an English department chair at Highland Park High School. The chair is named after longtime HPISD superintendent John Connolly, and Jennifer Gunn now holds the position.
Gunn comes to Highland Park from Rockwall-Heath High School with nearly 20 years of experience. She is a reader for the AP English Language and Composition exam, and she has been a board member for the Cowan Center for Education Teacher Alumni Advisory Board for eight years.
She is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in literature. She’s also earned a master’s degree from the University of Dallas in humanities, literature, and political philosophy.
“[Gunn] is deeply committed to the study of the humanities through literature, and we welcome her as a member of the Highland Park High School faculty,” HPHS principal Walter Kelly said in a statement.
Gunn officially stepped into the position on Aug. 17. She teaches AP and freshman English.
