The Retina Foundation of the Southwest received $55,997 from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation to support a postdoctoral fellowship in the Crystal Charity Ball Pediatric Vision Evaluation Center.

The award, given to fewer than 20 researchers a year, will support Dr. Krista Kelly’s research on gaze instability for children with amblyopia, or lazy eye.

Lazy eye is the most common cause of vision impairment among children, and Dr. Kelly’s study will evaluate how the condition affects reading and motor skills in order to develop academic accommodations for children with eye disorders.
