Local Students Earn Merit Scholarships
A few students from area private schools are among the first group of winners in the 60th annual National Merit Scholarship program.
The program has awarded scholarships to more than 1,000 high school seniors nationwide financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations.
Here are the winners: Alyssa Berger (Hockaday) was honored by Aon Corporation and plans to pursue a career in environmental policy. Michael A. Case (Jesuit) was honored by Raytheon and plans to pursue a career in accounting. William R. Morris III (Trinity Christian) was honored by the PwC Charitable Foundation and plans to pursue a career in political science.
