It’s Homecoming Time Again at SMU
Last year, at the encouragement of my peers, I posted a slight humble-brag to remind you to attend SMU’s homecoming parade. This year, I am happy to confirm that SMU grad Brian Baumgartner of The Office fame is, indeed, this year’s grand marshal.
So here’s what you need to know. The parade takes place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 — that’s a much later start date than I can remember in recent history.
The theme is “dynamic duos.” What does that mean, you ask? Apparently, it means things like Batman and Robin, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
The parade is also taking a new route (gasp! change!) beginning at SMU Boulevard and Bush Avenue, trailing south on Airline road, and then traveling west on Binkley Avenue before turning north onto Bishop Boulevard for its final leg. Here’s that in visual form.
After that, you can cheer the ‘stangs onto victory (ha ha) against South Florida at 7 p.m.

PS — our own Leslie Melson is the SMU Alumni Board chair this year, so check out her letter here.
