SMU Breaks Ground On New Education Building
Construction for the second building of the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at SMU is underway. The university broke ground on Sept. 12 for Harold Clark Simmons Hall.
In addition, the Simmons family gave a $25 million gift to fund the building. The three-story, 40,000-square-foot building will house the Budd Center for Involving Communities in Education, the Teacher Development Studio, the Department of Teaching and Learning, as well as classrooms, labs, and conference rooms to accommodate the expanding education program at SMU.
The Simmonses have made many donations to SMU over the years, making them among the most generous donors in SMU’s history. Harold Clark Simmons Hall is scheduled for completion by late 2015.
