Police Report: August 18 to August 23


SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Blame It On The Alcohol

At 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 22, four shoplifters combined to steal $167 worth of vodka — including two bottles of Grey Goose and one bottle of Ciroc — from PK’s Fine Wine and Liquor in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive. All four fled in a small black sedan toward Lemmon Avenue.


HIGHLAND PARK

18 MONDAY
At 12:34 p.m., a resident of the 3800 block of Mockingbird Lanereported that a bullet cracked a front window of the house sometime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 16.

Between 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 4 p.m. on Aug. 18, a vandal broke into a house in the 4400 block of Beverly Drive, which recently changed owners. One of the previous owners, who was in the process of moving out, noticed the front door closed but not latched, and notified police. Nothing was reported stolen.

20 WEDNESDAY
Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, a burglar broke into a blue 2007 Lexus ES350 in the alley behind a house in the 4500 block of Fairway Avenue. The perpetrator caused $1,500 in damage to a window, but nothing was reported stolen.

Between 2:45 and 3:05 p.m., a burglar broke into a GMC box van in the 3600 block of Harvard Avenue and stole a Stihl leaf blower and a Stihl weed eater.

21 THURSDAY
At 1:30 a.m., Christopher James Piot, 37, of Dallas was arrested in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive on a charge of possession of marijuana.

22 FRIDAY
Between 7 p.m. on Aug. 21 and 8:10 a.m. on Aug. 22, a thief entered an unlocked blue 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3400 block of Harvard Avenue and stole a set of Nike Ignite golf clubs in a vinyl bag.

Between 10 p.m. on Aug. 21 and 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 22, a burglar broke into three vehicles in the 4500 block of Westside Drive. Stolen items from a white 2008 Dodge F2500 pickup included a $650 Bully Dog gauge tuner and a $600 GPS system. A Warthog 45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, valued at $800, was stolen from a black 2012 Dodge F2500 pickup, and more guns might have been taken as well. And from a white 2012 Volvo S60, a thief stole a $500 pair of Tom Ford sunglasses and $250 worth of children’s toys.

At 1 p.m., a toddler was bitten by a black Scottish Terrier after asking to pet the dog in the lobby of an apartment complex in the4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive. The child suffered two puncture wounds on her hand and was taken to Children’s Medical Center for stitches. The dog’s owner reported the bite and agreed to quarantine the animal for 10 days.

23 SATURDAY
Between 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 23, a thief entered an unlocked silver 2006 Toyota 4Runner in the 4700 block of St. Johns Drive and stole a Toshiba laptop computer with power cord, an Oakley Panel backpack, an REI Flash 18 pack, a checkbook, and $5 worth of coins.

Between 11 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 23, a thief entered an unlocked black 2014 Range Rover in the 3800 block of Miramar Avenue and stole a Louis Vuitton wallet containing $150 in cash, along with an iPod, and iPod mini, and an iPod charger.


UNIVERSITY PARK

18 MONDAY
At 10:17 a.m., a resident of the 3700 block of Hanover Streetreported the theft of $2,300 worth of golf clubs and a $450 Nucast fishing rod and reel from a detached garage on July 26-27.

At 5:26 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $60 pair of Old Soles shoes from the Kidswap store at Snider Plaza. Brandi Allen Nieto, 35, of Dallas was arrested on a theft charge.

19 TUESDAY
Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 8:25 a.m. on Aug. 19, a burglar broke into a silver 2004 Infiniti FX45 at The Plaza at Preston Center and stole a $2,000 Dell laptop computer.

At 10:55 a.m., Hillary Lanie Johnson, 42, of University Park was arrested in the 4100 block of Normandy Avenue on an assault charge.

20 WEDNESDAY
Between 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, a thief stole a $350 Trek boys bicycle from an open carport in the 3400 block of Potomac Avenue.

21 THURSDAY
At 2:25 a.m., a thief failed to pay a $16.88 taxicab fare in the 6600 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

Between midnight and 9 a.m., a burglar broke into a white 2013 GMC Denali in the 3700 block of Villanova Drive and stole the third-row seat, valued at $200.

At 6:09 p.m., a thief stole a $200 Diamondback boys bicycle in the2900 block of McFarlin Boulevard.

22 FRIDAY
Between July 19 and Aug. 22, a thief stole a $500 Cannondale bicycle from a garage in the 3400 block of Normandy Avenue.

23 SATURDAY
At 12:01 a.m., Margaret Lise Boeing, 25, of University Park was arrested in the 3400 block of Westminster Avenue on a public intoxication charge.

At 4:11 a.m., Dermot McMillan Harris, 21, of University Park was arrested in the 6600 block of Hursey Street on a public intoxication charge.
