Thief is Ready to Go Fishing

Here’s a look at some of the crimes that happened in your ‘hood this week.

At 11:30 a.m. on June 3, a thief stole a $120 Coach wallet containing $30 cash, at least four credit cards, a driver’s license, and a work ID from a purse hanging on a chair at a restaurant in Preston Forest Shopping Center. Before the cards were canceled, the thief made purchases at a 7-Eleven and at Macy’s and Nordstrom in NorthPark Center.

At 4:38 p.m. on June 4, an employee of Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center watched on camera while a shoplifter exited the mall with a $250 Michael Kors watch hidden in the palm of his hand. When the shoplifter realized he was being followed, he threw the watch into the grass, but it was too late.

Between 9:35 and 9:50 a.m. on June 5, a burglar broke into a gray 2008 Lexus sedan at Northaven United Methodist Church and stole a $500 purse containing a $100 Coach wallet with $650 cash and five credit cards inside, as well as a $500 iPhone.

At 12:30 p.m. on June 6, a thief stole a $100 straw purse containing a $399 iPhone, $100 worth of makeup, a credit card, and a driver’s license from an unattended cart at Tom Thumb in Preston Royal Village. When the shopper returned and noticed her purse was missing, she immediately went to the parking lot, but her gray 2008 GMC Acadia valued at $35,000 was nowhere to be found.

After 11 p.m. on June 6, a thief stole two Abu Garcia fishing rods with a combined value of $125 and $100 worth of bait from the bed of a black 2005 Chevy Silverado in the 5000 block of West Hanover Avenue.
