Spieth Qualifies For U.S. Open
Jesuit alum Jordan Spieth continued the incredible start to his professional golf career by claiming a spot in the U.S. Open at a qualifier in Dallas on Monday at Lakewood Country Club. He birdied three of the final four holes to earn one of the four available spots and finish tied for first place.
Spieth, who turned pro late last year, has four top-10 finishes to his credit, along with an NCAA championship with Texas, and has already nearly earned $1 million in prize money. He is 19 years old.
The U.S. Open is next week in Ardmore, Penn.
The other three spots from the Dallas qualifier went to Zack Fischer, Edward Loar, and Matt Weibring, a Bishop Lynch alum.
