A Note About a Post That No Longer Exists

Last week, during the height of the bomb/guns scare at Highland Park High School, I wrote a blog post that referenced a Dallas Morning News picture of two students. There was no malicious intent behind the post. I intended for it to come across as a light-hearted dig, the kind that I would make at the expense of one of my brothers or a friend. But it did not come across that way. To hear the students’ parents tell it, my post is causing much anguish for their family. So I’ve removed it from the blog, and I’ve apologized to the students’ father. If my post was the source of that much grief for them, I have nothing to gain by keeping it public.

Good job! I was slightly concerned about the origional post and I can certainly appreciate your intent. I would likely have thought the same thing in your situation. However, being a parent with kids in the school system makes everyone very sensitive. I very much appreciate your sensitive move and responsible approach. I wish everyone could be that considerate when things go in a different direction.

Dan I too got the humor in the previous post and did not find it offensive. However, I understand why some might have found offense and I appreciate you handling the situation with graciousness.
