Commotion at Lake Exall Was Training

One of our readers reported seeing Lakeside Drive (south of Miramar Avenue) blocked off on Sunday morning at around 9 a.m. She said that there were multiple ambulances as well as a fire truck, which was connected by a ladder to a winch. It looked like something was being pulled out of Exall lake, this observant informant reported, and she was right. Technically a water rescue was occurring, but it was just a drill, HPDPS spokesman Sgt. Lance Koppa told me.

Did anyone else see this and wonder what was happening?

I heard the call on my scanner and ran over there to see what was going on but discovered it was training. It is great to see that the department is training for a water rescue on Lakeside with all of the high water we see in that area during heavy rains.
