University Park City Council Votes on 5K

Involved citizens, take note: the University Park City Council will meet tomorrow evening. Up on the consent agenda is approval of the JUDICATA 5K Run, which benefits Dallas CASA and is put on by the SMU Law School.

The route goes through the SMU campus and some residential streets of University Park, and has been approved by the Police Department. Organizers anticipate 30-40 participants, and hope to hold the race at 9:00 a.m. on Feb. 23.

Proceeds go to Dallas CASA, which provides court-appointed advocates for abused or neglected children. Have any comments on the race? Come to City Hall tomorrow at 5 p.m.

It’s called “Race Judicata.” It’s a pun on the Latin term “res judicata.” Leave off the word “Race,” and you defeat the joke.

Thirty to forty participants? Is it really worth the hassle?

I read that 220 finished it last year. 30-40 must be a typo.

@Z – My apologies. I listed the race as it is detailed in the City Council documents.

@DemBones – Not a typo. That’s the number the city staff anticipates.
