Spieth Misses Cut in Professional Debut
Former Jesuit and University of Texas golfer Jordan Spieth had a tough time in his first PGA Tour event as a professional last week at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
After receiving a late exemption to play in the Farmer’s Insurance Open, Spieth missed the cut after shooting a 1-over 145 (72-73) to finish tied for 98th place. Play was suspended yesterday because of fog. The tourney resumes today with Tiger Woods leading by six strokes.
Spieth does not have any status on the tour, so he has to receive sponsorship exemptions or play his way in with Monday qualifiers. He has seven exemptions so far for events this season.
