Yavneh Academy Hosts Annual Blood Drive

Yavneh Academy will host its annual Maddie’s Mitzvah blood drive tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Pollman Hall. The event was first dedicated seven years ago for Maddie White, the granddaughter of the school’s printer Bill Burns.

Maddie, who at one time required many surgeries and the transfusion of hundreds of pints of plasma, whole blood, and platelets, is a thriving seventh grader who is now doing better than great!

This year Yavneh is partnering with Delete Blood Cancer to also offer a bone marrow registration drive in support of good health for community member Zach Guillot who continues to teach about the fight for life and the respect of each and every day. Lauren Stock will speak to students tomorrow morning about her Highschool Heroes program, which encourages students to register to become a potential blood marrow or stem cell donor when they turn 18.

Walk-in donors are welcome, but you can contact Deb Silverthorn at 972.839.6916 or send an email to info@yavnehdallas.org to request an appointment.
