Basketball Teams in Action Today
Both Highland Park basketball teams will battle Forney in District 10-4A play this afternoon. The Scots (18-6, 3-2) are at home, while the Lady Scots (18-6, 6-1) are on the road. Both games will tip off at 5 p.m. The original games times were 7:30 p.m., but both were moved up because of inclement weather.
The Scots come in having won three straight contests after dropping district games to Mesquite Poteet and West Mesquite. Highland Park blasted Terrell, 59-36, on Friday night behind 19 points from Chase Fletcher. Newman Smith and West Mesquite lead the district standings at 4-1, while the Scots, North Forney, and Poteet are all 3-2.
The Lady Scots, meanwhile, are just one game behind first-place Newman Smith. West Mesquite is 5-2, while Creekview is 4-3. Today’s game is the first of the second half of district play, which means there are only seven games left in the regular season.
Per Coach Allen, Forney wants to play a varsity only game at 5pm at HP to avoid the bad weather headed our way. Varsity girls will play at Forney at the same time, 5pm. Please spread the word. Thanks! Go Scots!
