With a Rush And a Push, I’m Out The Door
Two years ago, Dan Koller gave a kid with no knowledge of Texas whatsoever the opportunity to report on two of the most important communities in the state: Highland Park and University Park.
I stumbled out of the gate, but I caught my step, eventually writing a bunch of stories that I’m very proud of. By bringing me into the D Magazine empire, Dan inadvertently changed the course of my writing life, opening up the possibilities of FrontRow, D CEO, and the company’s flagship print product.
He also set me up to leave.
On Nov. 1, my People days will end, as I take a full-time position with the magazine. (Between now and then I’ll be attending a wedding. My wedding.) I’ll be the first full-time writer for the mag’s FrontBurner blog, trying daily to make the editors not regret their decision.
I’ll sincerely miss this paper, and its readers. But now I have an even bigger audience to yell at me when they think I’ve written something stupid. Thanks for the memories.
Best wishes and congratulations on your marriage and your new career path. I am confident that both will be a huge success and give you much joy and happiness
Well, this is a heck of a way to find this out! [Shuffles off in search of Wick Allison]
Congrats to you and your bride, Bradford! And best of luck at frontburner.
Congratulations!! This is an exciting time in your life! Enjoy every minute of it 🙂
Keep on referencing Omar in your posts and I’ll read you wherever you go. 🙂
This is very good news for FrontBurner. The blog has lacked life since Adam left. Hope you can bring his energy and humor back to the daily dose of routine.
I have enjoyed your writing and will continue to follow you on Frontburner. Congratulations on all the changes in your life and career.
Looking forward to reading your stuff on frontburner. Dan is obviously an excellent teacher!
You will be missed over here Bradford. I look forward to seeing you over at Frontburner Bradford.
Is Delonte West invited to the wedding?
UPDad- Best man.
