Scots Ranked No. 5 in AP Preseason Poll

Highland Park’s football team is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press’ Class 4A preseason state poll, which was released today.

Denton Guyer, which is moving down from Class 5A, grabbed the top spot with 13 first-place votes. Highland Park’s opponent in its Aug. 31 season opener, Aledo, is ranked No. 6.

Rounding out the poll are: No. 2 Cedar Park, No. 3 Tyler John Tyler, No. 4 Pearland Dawson, No. 7 Leander, No. 8 Wichita Falls Rider, No. 9 Angleton, and No. 10 Corpus Christi Calallen. John Tyler ended Highland Park’s season with a 42-39 victory in the third round of last year’s playoffs.
