University Park to Distribute Mosquito Dunks

If you’re like me, you looked at the above expression and wondered what a mosquito dunk was. Have no fear, Steve Mace is here:

Mosquito Dunks look like a small, beige donut. They float in standing water. As the dunk slowly dissolves, it releases a bacterium which is toxic to all species of mosquito larvae. Dunks can be used in fish ponds, birdbaths, flower pots, rain barrels or any place where water collects and remains for a period of time. The dunks kill mosquito larvae before they grow to become biting and disease-spreading adults.

Starting tomorrow University Park will provide mosquito dunks — two to a pack — to all UP residents who stop by City Hall.  To receive the product you must show proof of residency. The dunks, Mace said, are killer to mosquito larvae, but not deadly to any other creatures.

How did University Park ever survive without Steve Mace?

I mentioned this product in a comment on your post Tuesday. It also comes in little bits, which makes it easier to scatter in you planting beds. Mosquito dunks are solid donuts of Mosquito Bits. I know that Nicholson-Hardie carries both. Hooray for UP!
