Milam Pharo

Beloved father, brother, son, pediatrician, and neighbor departed this earthly realm on Sunday, June 10, 2012. His life was defined by selfless devotion to his fellow man. He faithfully served his country in World War II and the Korean War. His medical degree was attained from Tulane, and he subsequently began his career in Texas.

His practice came to span as many as four generations. During his practice of more than 63 years he taught at UT Southwestern Medical School and served as president of the Texas Pediatric Society, as well as president of the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Additionally, he co-founded HIP (Help is Possible), assisted on the staff of Solutions, served as a medical missionary in Brazil, and participated in numerous other humanitarian foundations.

Dr. Pharo is survived by his daughter: Rachel Pullen and husband Michael of Rockwall, Texas; two sons: Mark Pharo and wife Beth of Dallas, and Randy Pharo and wife Joey, of Golden, Colo.; stepson: John Trice and wife Meghann of Carrollton, Texas; and eight grandchildren: Benjamin, Patrick, Spencer, Megan, Reilly, Haley, Lexie, and Faye. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ray and Winston; and one sister: Marzelle.

Funeral services were held June 16, at LakeShore Church, 5575 Highway 205 South, Rockwall, TX, 75032, with Pastor Brad Howard and Dr. Ed Pauley officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were handled by Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rockwall, Texas.     As a child I liked Dr. Pharo so much he finally had to kick me out to a “big boy Doctor” GP right before my 13th birthday.
