Stimson to Play State Fair’s Main Stage on Monday

Musician Johnny Stimson is a graduate of Highland Park High School and Texas A&M.

If you haven’t been out to the State Fair yet, you may want to consider an excursion this Monday evening. That’s when 2007 Highland Park High School graduate Johnny Stimson will be performing — three times. Stimson and his band, which includes ’06 HPHS grad Jamie Holcomb on bass, are scheduled to appear on the Chevrolet Main Stage at 4, 5:45, and 8:30 p.m., providing just enough time for a Fletcher’s corny dog between each set.

“This is our biggest gig so far,” says Stimson, “and we are thrilled to have the opportunity. The only thing that would make it even better is having a lot of local fans come out to show their support!”

I’ve never heard Stimson’s music, but his website says it features “more hooks than a Peter Pan prop auction,” and that’s a nice turn of phrase.
