Rise and Shine, Park Cities (7-15-11)
1. Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of visiting with the great Kirk Dooley, one of the founders of Park Cities People, for a story about the paper’s 30th anniversary. I forgot to tell Kirk that readers still think he works here, even though he left before the first anniversary. Case in point: Right after Kirk and I parted ways, I opened an email that began:
I sent the below press release to Kirk Dooley re a possible story in the Park Cities People. I believe he was out on vacation, so I wanted to send it to you as well.
2. Are you ready for some football? The NFL may be locked out, but college and high school teams will start practicing in just a few weeks. To get you fired up, University Park United Methodist Church will host SMU coach June Jones on Sunday morning. He’ll discuss “Leadership and Character” at 9:45 a.m.
3. Are you ready for some opera? The Walsingham Society will host baritone Thomas Shivone for a performance of “Mozart’s Greatest Hits” at 7 this evening at Church of the Holy Cross.
June Jones is speaking at Highland Park United Methodist Church on Sunday. Not University Park Methodist Church.
@girl mom: I beg to differ. Jones’ appearance is billed plain as day on the University Park United Methodist website: upumc.org. Perhaps he booked two speaking engagements for the same morning?
