John Quinones Sets Up Shop in Snider Plaza

Ever seen ABC’s television show What Would You Do hosted by John Quinones? It’s the one where actors play out some scene that poses a moral dilemma while the reaction of innocent bystanders is secretly recorded.  Just when some unsuspecting citizen leaps in to save the day- or minds his own business and walks away- Quinones pops out for an interview.

Last month Quinones and his crew set up some patrons at Short Stop in Snider Plaza. Over the course of a day, about 8 guests were exposed to an easily overheard conversation in which a teen couple discussed an unplanned pregnancy, the boy urging his girlfriend to have an abortion. At least two area women felt led to intervene.

A Short Stop employee confirmed that a few people were upset about being filmed, others took the opportunity to share their motives for getting involved.

The episode is expected to air on May 20.

John is the nicest man, a true American success story. He comes from humble beginnings in San Antonio, his book “Heroes Among Us” is a great read. He has ties to the Dallas area, if you run into him you’ll find him to be kind and humble, just a really great guy. You should read his book!

All that said, I would not be happy to find myself under the watchful eye of his camera. Creepy.

OUCH! There is an old saying that goes something like…. “Character is shown by our actions when we think no one is looking”. Sounds like to me that some those that got upset may have been more disappointed in their own actions once they realized someone was actually watching and took it out on the film crew!
